Egads! Long time, no postie!
Um...
1. I had a job at the Zoo, but now it's closed for the summer.
2. Still working at Suncoast, which is sweet even if it is retail.
3. Persephone is still alive and kicking. She now has company in my mom's kitten, Bertram Wooster. Bertie is adorablecakes.
4. ARTARTARTARTART. But no writing :(
5. Twitter, I has it: here. Twitter is a fun and marvelous thing. Except when it isn't. I suggest following Misha Collins.
6. Speaking of Misha Collins, SUPERNATURAL <3 How has this show not existed in my life until now?! (background: I, uh, might have had an epic marathon of the entire series from July to September, and I might have made my mom a fan too.)

Happy Easter, Christian minions out there. I'm Agnostic, but my family is Christian of some degree or another (though my mom claims to be Wiccan, which I'm starting to think is complete bullshit), so I'm forced into celebrating this holiday. I can't escape to work, because the mall actually closes on Easter (note: the ONLY times the mall closes are for Christian holidays - Easter, Christmas, and Thanksgiving, which is a blend of Nationalism and Christianity).
So I'm stuck. At home. Listening to my mom's regurgitation of the hate bile spewed by talk radio. I've escaped to my small domain of the upstairs to do some cleaning, when I realized that there's a new Doctor Who episode. If there is a supreme being, thank whatever its name is for the small things in life.
Also, I have Persona 3 to keep me out of the company of other people.

1. I have a job! At Suncoast! And it's looking like it might possibly be more than seasonal :D
2. Who has tickets to see Sweeney Todd on January 21st??? That's right, bitches XDD
3. Read the comic book Wanted. Was not too impress :/ I'll spare you the incredibly long rant, though, that hits on a number of qualms.
4. Merry Christmas to the Christians on my flist, and Happy Holidays to the rest :)

Well, substitute teaching isn't really working out all that well. Since the beginning of October, I've only been called in twice. I'm still searching for jobs, of course, but my expectations have become lower. The most frustrating thing about this whole ordeal? Either I don't possess the right type of "professional experience" (they don't consider my desk job at Ball State as professional), or my BA in English makes me overqualified. *headdesk*
The real world doesn't make much sense, does it?

I have a job! Substitute teaching :3 I don't know how frequently I'll be doing it, but I already have a gig for Friday, which was entirely by chance (I was in the right place at the right time). I'm hoping it won't be an infrequent thing D:

Dear Livejournal Drones/Readership,
I'm moving on up in my political rage, and I'm afraid of where it's taking me. Some fuckwit in the FW Journal Gazette tried to write an "informed" letter to the editor on how feminism only represented liberal women because they don't support and criticize Sarah Palin. I wrote a scathing response correcting Fuckwit on his view. I don't think it will be printed because I called him an idiot, but it's the thought that counts.
Anyways, this development frightens me because I do believe I'm turning into a politics junkie. As I formulated my response and pounded out my vitriolic diatribe, I felt euphoric, high, and giddy, like I could take on all the fuckwits and pundit zombies wearing nothing more than a metal bikini, sparse armor, and an impossibly disproportionate sword. It's been only a few minutes since I clicked the SEND button but I'm beginning to feel the somber tendrils of withdraw. Must find more fuckwits to verbally eviscerate.
Signed,
Your budding delusional lunatic burn queen

Aaaand the job hunt continues! I'm applying at schools for substitute teaching, which I actually feel really positive about. An admin in one of the schools told me straight out that they need subs really bad.

I guess I should post an update.
Basically, for the last month, I've been taking care of an orphaned newborn kitten on my own (though Debbie was able to make it over one day during the first week to help me out). She's still alive! And she's growing both in size and cuteness everyday.
I named her Persephone.
Anyhow, I plan on visiting Muncie some time in October. I will be bringing her with me for people to see (because they want to meet her). I'd come sooner but (1) I don't have a job, (2) no money, (3) I still have to take my driving test, and (4) I'm worried Persephone might not have the immune system to handle travel and new locations. Her mother managed to lick her out of the birth sac, but left her hanging with the placenta still attached. When we found her, flies were crawling all over her and the mother hadn't been anywhere in sight for the last 20 minutes. I don't know if she ever received colostrum, which is something in the mother's milk (in any animal!) that provides babies with temporary immunity. In two weeks, however, she gets her shots.

An update! Well, there hasn't been much to talk about >.>
I went on a reading binge, read books four through seven of the Dresden Files (six and seven were read in three days total). Since I'm being a bum and borrowing them from teh Debbie, I'm taking a break (she lent me six and seven) and am going to start China Mieville's Perdido Street Station. I started it weeks ago, but (as much as I like his style) found the book to be too involving for where I was at the time (in a car with my sister's boyfriend and his friend on our way to visit my sister).
Still no job, but I've had interviews, which is good, yeah?

Bleh. Not much to report on the home front. I saw a movie last weekend with teh Debbie - The Incredible Hulk. I was actually impressed with this version. Considering that I fell asleep in the theater when I was the first one five years ago, my opinion of this movie going in was that it would probably be much better than Ang Lee's. And it was :)

I haven't been doing much over the past week. Applying for jobs, watching movies, starting books, drawing crack for other people (none of which is appropriate). I'm also watching my sister's guinea pig over the summer. I moved her to my room two days ago. She seems to be adjusting fine, though today she's a brat >_< I had to rearrange some boxes under my bed to block access to underneath my dresser (which is situated at the foot of my bed).
I might be subleasing an apartment/townhouse-thing over the summer in Fort Wayne, if I can get a job there. My sister's boyfriend will be needing another roommate, since one of his is moving back home. Rent is $280, which isn't too bad, but I don't think it includes utilities :(

Well, the DC Comics thing didn't pan out like I wanted it to, but the guy I spoke to in the HR department there said that if there were any jobs that I wanted to apply for, just call him. I've been told this is a good thing.
Also, I have my driver's permit, which is nice. I can get a license in 60 days.
Fun things:
The Secret Device - Viral campaign/promotion for Hellboy 2. I've gotten as far as solving the fifth light;the sixth has yet to come on. The sixth light is lit!! There goes my afternoon XD

Accomplishments/Awesome things that happened to me:
- assembled bookcase and was able to fit 90% of my books inside.
- cleaned and rearranged my room.
- applied for a job at a summer camp.
- Interview on Monday, perhaps, for an assistant editor position at DC Comics.
- Played God of War II, and am now playing through again in a cod suit.
- saw Eddie Izzard last night with my sister, Debbie, and her brother. It was a good show, even if we were in the extreme nosebleed section. The tickets were free, so I'm grateful that I got to go :)
- Watched 'Casanova' (the Masterpiece Theatre version). David Tennant is made of all sorts of awesome and sex.
- bought the first volume of Warren Ellis' run of "The Authority", which I read years ago but could never find in a book or comic book store ever again. Jenny Sparks is made of win :)
Failures:
- watched 'Teeth' in the early hours of the morning in Fort Wayne with my sister and some of her friends. Ahhhhhhhh, such a terrible movie >_<
- The music in 'Casanova' was sub par for Masterpiece Theatre.
- Unable to take the test for my permit because I forgot to bring my birth certificate.
- Could not make it through the first 20 minutes of the original Battlestar Galactica movie. IT WAS SO BAD AND MADE NO SENSE!!!
- My mom broke Godwin's Law in conversation >_< I should have told her that the moment she made a Hilter comparison, her argument fell apart, but I didn't have the heart to tell her. I would have had to explain the faux pas of using Hitler as a point of comparison.

1) I graduated from BSU. And, yes, I walked. It was meh.
2) Have moved back home. Trying NOT to go back to Cedar Point for summer employment.
3) Will be rearranging my room because the layout bores me.
4) Will be getting my license.
5) Might buy my mom's car off of her, because my stepdad is getting her a new one some time this summer. I hope it's before June 1st so (in the event that I can't get a professional job soon) I don't have to compete with high schoolers for summer employment.
6) Might work at the same summer camp with my sister.

Fun fact: I didn't know what a Delorean actually was until somebody explained it to me. My enthusiasm is genuine, however. It's the Back to the Future car!! ZOMG!!
It was just sitting in the Student Center's parking lot!!!

Last Weekend: Went to the Fort Wayne Cherry Blossom Festival for about an hour. Mochi is the single-most delicious food item I've ever tasted, and I don't think I'll ever taste anything as perfect and as sweet again (or at least here in America).
This weekend: workworkworkwork. My Wuthering Heights paper is coming along much more nicely once I decided that ( spoiler ) This epiphany does wonders for my paper.
I wish I could see a first printing of Wuthering Heights - the version that was put out by a small press and was full of errors. I can't help but wonder how much of the second printing (from which all other versions are derived today) is a result of the author's sister editing and revising. Alas, there is no original manuscript; the original publishers lost it.
I took a break tonight to play The Labyrinth Drinking Game with some guys. The game is really simple: you take a drink whenever you see David Bowie's bulge. Surprisingly, this does not happen enough times to justify watching the whole movie.
Friday: Saw "The Forbidden Kingdom" with Debbie. It was a fun film :)

04/06What can I say? I'm still a human. I've only achieved this through the utmost paranoia and well-plotted routes through campus. I haven't joined any of the missions because they're not at times when I could make them. I think there might have been a mission on Friday or Saturday, but, uh, the season premieres of Battlestar Galactica and Doctor Who and the season finale of Torchwood sort of take more precedence over the survival of the human race [in a game]. I schedule my week around my few television addictions - just like those people who watch Lost.
Plus, I have papers. When paper-writing week rolls around and you habitually shut yourself in, then it's really easy to survive. The furthest I journeyed across campus this weekend was the library. I almost ran into two zombies who were leaving at the same time as me, but I took another exit and stayed far behind them. Going to the Student Center is easy because it's out of the way; nobody goes there unless they're on that side of campus. I have yet to encounter a zombie in that area.
Tomorrow's going to be a pain in the ass. I have to go to Robert Bell. My plans to cut through campus at certain times are still sort of dodgy because while students are generally in classes around those times, I still might run into a zombie. I'm afraid of getting trapped in RB once my class lets out, but I think I can be well-prepared to stay there a while if need be.
04/07
My plan for getting to and from Robert Bell works!
Noyer's a death trap. I almost got bitten by a zombie, but shot him just as he was coming up behind me. I wound up taking the long way after that. I don't know how safe this route is, and I didn't get a chance to find out: on my way back to Elliott, I remembered that I wanted to pick up some stuff from Wizard's Keep. Oddly, the store was closed. And it wasn't even 7!!!
I'm not too concerned about going to and from classes tomorrow, but Wednesday night is going to be difficult, especially with my night class :(
